Do You Find Your Life To Be Fulfilling?

This is certainly a loaded question – but it’s in a positive way. Before you think about answering, try to use the extent of your life long dreams and personal goals to help you with your response. Don’t depend on outside influences like the thoughts of others or the considerations of societal norms. Be honest with yourself and take control, after all, only you are reading this and only you will know the answer.

At one time or another all of us have set goals. These goals have given us good reasons for getting up in the morning. We are always moving toward something that seems to make an impact on our lives. If you’re in college, graduation day represents a goal – it may be four years down the road, but it’s still in sight.

When you finally land a job, your goal may then shift from looking for a job to the pursuit of new career opportunities. Many of us work toward improving ourselves, not because of what others may think, but because we’re driven to do much more than simply exist. Every individual wants their time on Earth to have some sort of meaning, and this meaning may be for ourselves, our neighbour’s or even for the whole world at large.

What are some of your goals and dreams? If you’ve never taken the time to write them down, buy a journal and do just this. If its been awhile since you’ve really delved into your thoughts, don’t worry about it, this personal endeavour will take quite a few sessions.

No matter how outrageous these dreams seem, write ALL of your aspirations down. The actualisation of these dreams doesn’t necessarily need to be a lifelong pursuit. You might really want to climb a mountain, but this certainly doesn’t mean that you have to be a professional mountain climber to do it. Scaling a mountain is an experience you’d like to have, and by fulfilling that desire, this adds a measure of character to your life.

You may not meet all of your goals. An unmet goal can – by chance, either lead us down a better path, or drop us into a new lifetime low. Strive for the former. Some of us are so set on keeping up with our ideals that we don’t realize the harm that we’re doing to our own level of joy in the process.

Take a good long look at your goals and dreams list. Who knew you had so many desires. Life is not about pursuing one path and then staying on it for the rest of your life. It’s about the detours and stops we choose to take that turn us into well-rounded and understanding people.

Only you can answer the question, “Is Your Life Fulfilling?” No one knows your heart like you do. It’s the fundamental question many long for someone else to answer for them, but you’ll soon realize that any answer another would give would be wrong – because they’re not you. You know yourself best, so begin using your goals and dreams as a guide to find the fulfilment you’re longing to achieve.
