Prices Of College Textbooks
Each year the students face the problem of expensive textbooks. The students have to spend a lot of money on their education. That’s why they try to find ways to spare some money. The faculty chairmen and government representatives are trying to find a solution in this crisis with college textbooks. But still there is no solution and the students try to save money in order to have money to pay for the next school year. The parties promise to stop the constantly rising prices for textbooks till the beginning of a new school year. Together with some actions of the government, the students also tried to make the actions of their own; they have made several campaigns and programs, which goal was to reduce the price for the textbooks which are required by curriculum. Students have blamed the publishers in that fact that they have made such situation when the prices went up and printing of the new editions of the textbooks, even when it is not required. Besides they accused the publishers that they monitor the prices for the used books, because of these new editions. However, all this actions didn’t lead to any results. The companies were ignored by the government. But the crisis helped students a bit – the prices were fixed and didn’t increase to that usual amount of percents.
But the publishers tried to purify their name and just blamed the faculties. According to their words, this is the professors who ask for new updated textbooks. But the faculties assure that they are not guilty. All of them are bringing just more problems to the existing one. Moreover, the chairman added that why should the professors require the new editions, if the program itself hadn’t changed for several dozens of years. By this means the faculty leaders rejected all the charges said by textbook publishers.
As you may see the parties are just accusing each other, to the best of our knowledge only few officials are actually doing something and trying to find any solutions to the high prices of college textbooks. In order to make the percentage of crises of the new textbook down, high educational institutions have provided a set of specific programs that should be quite efficient. Unfortunately, these are only temporary solutions to this college textbooks problem. The thing is that the universities try to start selling college textbooks which may be downloaded in PDF format. Electronic textbooks now take about 70 percent of existing textbooks. Several other universities have decided to focus currently on including textbook lending, exchanging, renting etc. I am sure that this is just a beginning and further everything will be solved both by publishers and college stuff.

Reading a Good Book is like Exploring a New World
How long ago was the last time you looked through a good book or a magazine? If it was in school or when you were looking into new career opportunities, then you’re way overdue for new material. Our brains are starving for new information – and so are you, even if you don’t know it yet.
For whatever reason, some people seem to love to read all the time, while others just don’t have an interest. The problem is usually the choice of reading material. We all have our favourite genres and magazines, and for each of us, other material is usually boring.
Try to make some time to find out what kind of reading you really enjoy. Reading a good book is like entering and exploring a new world for our senses. Our imagination creates the smallest details and we look on intently as the characters fulfil their purpose. It can seem as real as a memory – and sometimes, even more so.
Everyone should have opportunity to experience reading an extraordinary book like this – at least once. Through reading we can visit new places, and we can even learn all sorts of real world facts too. How do you think all those people on Trivia Game Shows win such incredible amounts of money? Quite a lot of those seemingly insignificant bits of information can actually be life enhancing – not trivial, if they add to someone’s life in a useful way.
Pick up a magazine and scan the table of contents for an interesting story. Read it and see what you learn. Try to find something new to read each day. It could be an article in the newspaper, a magazine, or just flipping through a book by your favourite author.
With some unusual books, reading can also increase your vocabulary. They say that most books are written with eighth grade reading comprehension in mind, because if the words are too hard, people just skip over them or stop reading entirely. Either way, if you avoid reading, you’ll miss out on something potentially worthwhile.
Maybe there’s a stack of books in your room that you were meaning to get around to, but haven’t as yet taken the time to begin. Why not take control, and invest an hour or two this weekend to begin to read again, or perhaps in the evening as you unwind for bed? Let the words on the pages push away all of the pressures from the day. Open your mind to new ways of thinking – new possibilities.
Reading a little each day keeps the mind sharp, as without this work, our minds quickly atrophy from lack of regular stimulation. Getting those reading muscles going again can make – literally, all the difference in the world.
Have you ever been stuck for an answer and thought back to something you read? Whatever passage it was held the key to solving your problem. Without that essential knowledge which you discovered while reading, you’d still be waiting for someone else to help you out, but instead, you found a way to help yourself and all those around you.
Learning to read and then actively continuing to read stretches our minds in new ways, and with true perseverance, we may even learn to think quite far “outside the box.”
